Email messages unread message on welcome screen

No matter how many email messages are actually unread I get shown as
having 1 on the welcome screen? Is there a way to fix this lie :-)

Try Doug's site, below, under XP-FIXES

This did not change anything. It was enabled but it gives the wrong
number (ALWAYS 1) so is there any other thing I can do? I did run the
script.
 
This allowed me to set the number of messages to zero or any other
number I wanted to do but it still does not display the correct value
when I go back to the welcome screen.

The TweakUI Powertoy will allow you to disable the feature altogether.
 
I have disable it but I ant it to work CORRECTLY and there seems to be
no way!

It doesn't work with Outlook. Outlook wasn't written to update it.
