Hi all,

One of my report field contains email adresses. I specified that they should
be treated as hyperlinks, however I cannot access that hyperlink from the
report preview and the hyperlinks won't work when my report is made into a
Word or PDF document, any ideas?

Thanks!

Jerome

Jerome:

1.) Access' report preview window doesn't support active hyperlinks as
you've seen.

2.) If you output the report to Word, it won't automatically generate e-mail
links, you'd have to manually create them.

3.) Only a few PDF drivers will automatically generate hyperlinks upon PDF
creation, Adobe's will not. Win2PDF and PDF-XChange will along with a few
others. But for those drivers to recognize the hyperlink, when the PDF is
produced, your report has to have a fully qualified hyperlink prefix
displayed, so as an example a web link must be displayed in the report as
"http://www.somewhere.com" and a mail hyperlink must be displayed in the
report as "mailto:[email protected]" they can't be aliased (shown
without the prefix) as Access allows in a hyperlink filed. If you are
using Acrobat, then if the hyperlink does have the proper prefix when
displayed in the PDF, then you open the PDF in Acrobat 5 and greater and
from the Advanced menu item choose Web Capture and choose then choose Append
All Links on Page, (you have to do it page by page). So drivers like
Win2PDF will make this easier, provided that you fully qualify the link when
displayed in Access.
