Email delivery to seperate folders for multiple accounts

I've just changed from Outllok 2000 to 2003 and am having difficulty setting
it up as before:

I have 4 email accounts and I want each account to put the mail in a
different folder. I have tried "Rules & Alerts" and it doesn't work as it
should (see below). I also tried changing the outlook data file that the
email is delivered to but this changes it for all. I don't want to have
different profiles for each if this means logging out of one and into another
to check mail from each account.

Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

Problem with "Rules & Alerts":
I have "Account 1" set up as the default and the others are downloaded in
order.
I set a rule as:
Mail delivered through a specified account to be moved after it arrives, on
this machine only, to a specified folder.
This works for the default account. I then set it for "account 2" and that
worked.
When I set it for "account 3" or "account 4", as soon as I press "apply" the
rule changes the specified account to "account 2". Therefore Accounts 1 & 2
go to the correct place but mail all later accounts also goes to the folder
for "account 2". It's as if it doesn't recongnise more than 2 accounts.

Ok, I think we can get this to work. I am currently running my primary pop mail account which uses outlook.pst, my Archive Folders using archive.pst, and a second pop-mail account using artisan.pst. So, I have my Personal Folders, Archive Folders, and Artisan Folders.

Obviously, like you, I want the mail sent to the artisan account to go to the Artisan Folder.

Here is my rule:
Apply this rule after the message arrives
with myname@artisandomain in the recipients address
and on this machine only
move it to the Artisan folder

That seems to work. Also, if I select the Artisan Folder then create a New Mail Message, that message will appear to be from myname@artisandomain at the receiving end.

Let me know if that works for you.

Thanks Carl.

Redirecting the emails by the addressee does work in most cases but it falls
over if the email was addressed to both me and my wife as I then get 2 copies
in my inbox. Which is why I thought using the received through an account
would be the way to go until it didn't work.

I have no time today, but I may be able to run a test on this tonight. However, let me understand this correctly...

You basically have two identical rules, only one is for your wife's account or recipient address and that produces duplicate email in your InBox? Have you tried using Copy in the rule for your wife's recipient address or account and Move for your own? Make sure the Copy runs first, of course.

I have tried with 3 similar rules, one for each account (the 4th account is
left in the default inbox)

Each one looks for a recipient then forwards it to the relevant folder for
that person. This works if it is only sent to one of us.

When 2 of us are on the recipients list we will get an email each come from
the server. Outlook runs both rules on the first email, putting it in both
folders, then both rules run on the second email putting that also in both
folders. This happens if I use Move or Copy.

Make sure you add "stop processing more rules"
