email deleting after reading.

I have Windows xp professional and a new dell computer. After the last
automatic update to the computer my email in Outlook has dissappeared after I
read it. The mail that has not been read does not dissapear. The mail that
dissapears does not go to the deleted folder either. It just goes away.
This did not happen before the last automatic update.
What can be done?

Check that you have not selected "Unread Messages" in View-Current View.
