I am not receiving some attachments on incoming emails. I've been using Vista
since April 2007, and this is a new problem for me. Any suggestions?

Click on Tools, then Options, then Read. If there is a check mark in the
box before Read all messages in plain text, click on this box and then
Apply. Click on OK.

Do the attachments now appear as a paperclip at the upper right corner
of the message, but not shown in the message? If so, click on the
paperclip and tell us the part of the filename following the last period.

Apply the part about the paperclip anyway.

Do the attachments happen to come from someone using Outlook
(not Outlook Express) to send them? If so, Windows Mail often
has trouble with such messages.

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled. The latest version of Trend's
anti-virus seems to be causing problems too.

Also, if you are using AVG and have email scanning turned on many messages
will have the attachment symbol even though there really is no attachment.
