When you get a message with such an attachment. can you click on the
paperclip at the top right of the message, find the file name, and tell us
the part starting with the last period?

Also, what if any antivirus programs do you have? Some of them cause
assorted problems in Windows Mail, although seldom immediately.

Can you save the attachments to your desktop and open them there?

Sorry can't see a paperclip at the top right of the messages. I use Avast as
antivirus, and yes, when I save the attachments on my hard disk I can then
open them.

If you did a standard install of avast!, it sometimes helps to uninstall it
and then do a custom install where you tell it to leave out the part that
scans email.

What is the part of the file name starting with the last period you can
open after saving them to disk but not within Windows Mail?

I can open all the files when saved on the hard disk but none of them when on
windows mail (.doc, jpeg, acrobat, etc)

Can anyone please help me? I am still with windows mail crashing whenever I
try to open an attachment!

Can you save the attachments to a file, then open them outside Windows Mail?

Can you click on the paperclip near the top right of messages that have
attachments, find the file names, and show us the parts of the file names
of such attachments starting with the last period?

I have Avast. I can save the attachment to the desktop or to a file and then
open them. But windows mail crashes anyway.
As for the type of attachments, it is all of them: .doc, .html, .jpg, .pdf
