Hello,
Is there a program ( freeware better ) that would give a graphical
notification when I get new emails (outlook or hotmail) into my inbox, to
save me from checking my inbox several times a day ? TIA.

If you mean outlook as in Outlook and NOT Outlook EXPRESS then it does have
a "graphical" mail notification.....
 
If you leave OE open (running in the background) and configured to
Send/Receive on a schedule, you'll see a New Mail icon in Notification Area
whenever new messages come in. You can assign a Sound to this event as
well.
