Is there any way to draw directly in a Word XP document without having that
drawing canvas pop up? This would be similar to the way drawing is handled
in Word 2000. I'm new to the XP version having used Word 2000 for a long
time.

Hi, Don,

In Tools > Options > General, uncheck the box for "Automatically create
drawing canvas when inserting AutoShapes".

.
Yeah you can go to the tools menu, select options, then
click the tab called general. Go down near the bottom of
all the options listed and uncheck the box that
says "automatically create drawing canvas..." and that
should do it.

Select Tools, Options, and on the General tab, uncheck "Automatically create
drawing canvas when inserting Autoshapes", then click OK.
