in word 2003, I have attempted to format sections (1. change alighnment in
selected cells in a table; 2. change the indent and tab locations in a
numbered section) and rather than change the format for the selected section,
Word changed it for either the entire table or the entire document.
I was able to correct the problem with undo - which generally brought the
formatting change back to just the selected text.

I don't want Microsoft, 1000 miles away, deciding how to format my documents!
Give me the tools to control formating and let me do it

A response, with a solution to this common complaint of people who don't
understand how Word is working, was posted to one of your posts in another
newsgroup. Please do not multipost.
