Hi. Is there a way to program a function or a hot key to eject CD's?
I know I can click Start/My Computer/right click on the CD drive and choose 'eject', but I would like an easier way if possible. Thanks. deango

Hi,

The "TrayCD" application available in the link above will open or
close your CD-ROM drives from the Windows system tray.

Alternatively, the command line utilities listed below supports
opening as well as closing a CD-ROM. You could put the exe with the
appropriate command line switches in a shortcut (and assign a hot key
to it if you want).

I don't want to appear to be a Mac troll, but that's another thing Macs have
on PCs - the keyboard has an optical drive eject key! Very handy. I thought
I'd miss the other shortcuts on my Windows board - but I don't.... That key
more than makes up for them... ;o)

Yeah - but on most modern macs - that is the only way (beyond an emergency
eject paperclip hole - and you don't have that on the new macs!) you CAN
eject it. Personally - I like the button to be on the CD drive. I have to
get the CD from that area anyway - which means I will be reaching there
anyway - which means maybe I just want to press the eject button there.....
*grin*

Deango again. Mostly I hear the disk still running after the program has shut down and I didn't th ink pressing the button on the tower was a good idea. That's why I wanted the system to eject the CD, But if you all say its ok then I don't need the utility...........deango

I've just checked my G5 and it does, indeed, have a paperclip hole. The
drives on Power Macs do - I will admit that the drives on iMacs and Mac Minis
don't.

I know what you mean though - but I *STILL* don't miss my PC... ;o) <eg>
