i formated and forgot to unecrypt a few files, now i cant
access them. there is a way to do it since MS posted
this ...."Several protections are in place to ensure that
data recovery is possible and there is no data loss in
case of total system failures" .... i would think a total
system failure would be as bad or worse than a format
if some one knows how plz let me know.

Those protections are you exporting your own keys or a recovery agents keys
(*should you designated one before the encryption).
Also if you have a full copy of your profile prior to the reinstall we may
be able to help.
Do you have a full copy of the user profile that encrypted the files prior
to the reinstall.

If you did not export your keys or the recovery agents keys or do not have a
copy of your profile then the files ay well be permanently lost to you.

1 thing that is odd , which leads me to believe these
files can be saved, is that when i highlight a file i can
see the image in the details on lower left side ...
if they were completely secure from efs i shouldnt be
able to preview the pic ....
that sound correct?
