I am trying to back up encrypted files on my XP Pro
laptop to another location in unencrypted format, for
backup every night. It's going to a server that doesn't
support EFS. I want XP to decrypt on the fly.
I decrypts on the fly if I drag & drop to the new
location - if I respond "ignore all" at the prompt.
Problem is, Xcopy and Robocopy generate error messages
("can't copy/move without losing its encryption").
There is a registry hack (that I have lost) that turns
off the warning for all of these scenarios and just
unencrypts the files by default.
Without this hack, I can't run my backup script. The
size of the file set is too big to drag & drop every day.
Does anyone have this registry setting? I can't find it
on kbase anymore... it was definitely there because I
used it before in the same circumstance. My HD crashed
and I can't find the hack.
(This is a client-side setting, not the server-side one
that turns off EFS for the server.)
Thanks for your help!
