One of my computers stop working and stopped logging on, and think it
may be a registry problem.

I've taken the hard drive out of the faulty computer and put it into a
fully working computer as a second harddrive so I can acess it. I need
to now how can I check and edit the registry on the 2nd hard drive
using the fully working computer?

Is it possible to do so, I've tried to use regedit but it does not
work it simply opens the registry of the current Windows XP on the C:
drive not the other hard drive.

Also is it possible to install or reinstall Windows XP on the 2nd hard
drive without affecting the current XP operating system on the C:
drive?

any help would be deeply appreciated,

thanx J

Not with what you have.

And what did you expect?

You can do this, but there will be some changes to your existing C Drive and
Windows XP that can be changed with editing of the system files.
Do a search on Dual Booting.

I don't believe that you will resolve any problems on this hard drive by
going down this route. Whilst it is installed on an XP system, run a full
virus scan and run malaware checks over it. Be sure that it is 100% virus
free and spyware free.

If you then want it to be upgraded to XP put it back into the original
system and run the upgrade process there. If you try doing it on the XP
machine, it will not run on the other when you move it back and you will need
to carry out a 'repair install' should you wish to use it.
