I have this board and am trying to (of course) build a computer.

It does fire up, but I get no video. The card is fine, I have used it on
other machines before with no problem.

The speaker is hooked up, makes no beeping sounds at all.

Diagnosis? Where do I go from here? Any websites, phone numbers etc?

You may want to try the ECS website. http://www.ecsusa.com/ and see if they
can help Also, you may want to clear the CMOS memory using the jumper pins
on the board. At the ECS website you should be able to download a manual for
it in pdf format and be able to see just when the pin is located on your
board. I have the ECS K7S5A Pro model and it's located between the AGP1 slot
and the PCI1 slot, but it may be different on your board.

I have done that, no change. Also, I hooked up a hard drive and you hear it
"wrrr" a tad at the beginning, then it seems to stop.

Hi,

The ECS K7S5A has a long history now of being one of the classic flake
boards. And I speak from experience as I had one that ran fine for a year
and then suddenly the OS would not boot. After reformatting and installing
the OS it ran for a week and then it happened again. I changed hard drives
and did the same thing again. It ran for a day and then the OS wouldn't
boot. That's what sold me on the mb being the problem.
Do yourself a favor and do a google search on problems with the K7S5A and
then you make the decision for yourself whether or not to continue.

It could be anything from improperly seated video card or memory to
insufficient psu.

Start over with bare minimum connections, ie, cpu, cpu fan,
memory, psu, pc speaker.

Reset CMOS jumper to factory ship for a 3 second boot, reset jumper to
normal.

If you get beeps for no video you're in business, add video card and
monitor. Then add another component rebooting in between to bios
setup screen.

Since you've used this board before chances are it works assuming you're
using the right cpu on the motherboard.
