I am trying to have enter this into a label: "ad&d". I
know that when the ampersand is in the label it views as
an underscore, (hotkey). How can I show the ampersand in
the text?

Enter the ampersand twice in succession. Only one will be
visible when in form mode or on a report.
 
Use 2: ad&&d
I think Access sees just 1 ampersand (&) as to define a
keyboard shortcut, I can't remember exactly, but anyway
use 2 instead.
