Regularly, XP insists on running ctfmon.exe and opens a service EAPOL
(event viewer). I think this is related to speech recognition which I do
not use.

Any way I can prevent this from happening?

Thanks

Hi John,
CTFMon is involved with the language/alternative input services in Office
XP. CTFMON.exe will continue to put itself back into MSConfig when you run
the Office XP apps as long as the Text Services and Speech applets in the
Control Panel are enabled. Not required if you don't need these features.

Thanks Kelly, this is what I suspected. However, the Speach applet and
its two tabs does not show any "disable" or equivalent box. Or is it so
obvious I do not see it?

Best regards

I got it. The explanations of the KB were clear. Thanks
