we are still trying to open our e-mails with attachments and nothing is
working. how do we find anything to do with a firewall? we removed some
programs but still cannot open these e-mails. What else can we do?
 
I don't know what you have installed on your system, specifically, what
security software and even if I did, unless I was familiar with the
software, I would not know precisely where to look. If you didn't install a
separate firewall from the XP firewall, then that is not the issue, unless
your computer manufacturer bundled such software with your system in which
case you should contact them. As far as I know, the XP firewall, if
enabled, does not prevent you from opening webmail attachments.

Do you have antirivirus software? If yes, you would need to check its
options to see if it is blocking attachments. If you have no such software
or it doesn't have that type of option then the problem is most likely and
issue with your webmail provider and you would need to contact them.

go to tools, go to options,go to security, take check mark off do not

let attachments to be saved or opened try it
 
They aren't using Outlook Express, the said they were using a webmail
account. Although, if they are accessing the account through Outlook
Express, something I neglected to ask, it's a possibility that's the issue.
