i have been trying to send and reieve attachments which
have been created in microsoft works on xp however people
cant read it and it says use word format, what does this
mean?

Word format is the format used by Microsoft Word. What you need to do is
create the document in Microsoft Word or in an application that can save in
the Word *.doc format.
