Every time I try to download my e-mail, I get another copy of e-mails I've
already received from yesterday (I've gotten about six of each, so far), and
the download gets stuck on the 12th of 20 messages. Anyone know how to
"unstick" it? I don't know what someone has sent me -- whether it's a huge
file...? But I can't figure out a way to bypass it. I've given it a lot of
time, too, and it just doesn't move past about 25% of the message bring
downloaded. Help!!

Visit the website of your ISP, login and delete the offending message.

I had a similar problem after changing my antivirus from Norton to a freebie
- PC Tools Antivirus. It apparently does not automatically recognize POP3
accounts in the Ports to be scanned and this caused my email send receive to
stop functioning and hang up like you indicate yours did (it just kept saying
receiving message 1 of XX - and then if I clicked wait it just kept hanging
up - and when I clicked stop I got an error message). In fact in my case it
also caused my emails to report out as SPAM to my provider. I went into the
email scan settings, clicked on the port settings under advanced and clicked
yes to scan the POP3 for the subject port and everything started working fine
after that. Don't know if this will help you but it worked for me......best
of luck
