Everytime I open outlook express I have about 3 or 4
messages saying meesage was undeliverable to addresses I
don't even know. I never sent any of these e-mails...I am
wondering if this is a virus?

If I sent an e-mail to a address that did not exist and used your e-mail address as the one to reply to who do you think would get the message you are expeiencing? You. Not a virus on your machine but is an issue at some other machine. You can look at the headers and see if it was your IP address that was the original sender.

Or ask in a Outlook Express newsgroup. This is Microsoft Outlook different product then Microsoft Outlook Express.

I have been having this problem too. Somtimes there is a substantial number, say 5-10, other times very few. I do not recognise any of the addresses and do not have them in my Address Book. Naturally suspicious I have always completely deleted them.

I have always downloaded the latest critical updates from Windows and my Norton Anti-Virus software has not detected any virus, nor some recently applied "free" sample antivirus from the web.

In my ignorance I ask if the ISP is at fault here or is there something intrinsic with Outlook Express?

The most likely cause is a virus on somebody _else's_ computer that is
sending emails out from _their_ system. These infections will randomly grab
an email address from the address book on the infected machine and use that
to forge a from:

In a nutshell, this _does_ indicate the activity of a worm or a virus but
the infection is on somebody else's machine.
