Hello all,
I manage a monthly e-newsletter that goes out to about 3000 people. I have
always used Oultook with no problem, generally dividing the e-mails into 3
groups and just BCC-ing the recipients. But lately, I am getting this error
message:
"452 too many recipients, send more in a second session"

What is the significance of the number 452? And what is the limit to
recipients? Is there a better way for me to handle this newsletter mailing?

Thanks,
PL

Usually the limiting factor on this is the ISP and not Outlook. As far as I
know, there is no "452" limit on Outlook.

In this case, I believe "452" is the error message ID.

452 is the error code, not the max number of aggregate recipients across
all the To, CC, and BCC fields. Contact your ISP and find out what
their per-message recipient quota is for your account.

Think you are right, I read it that in his mailing of 3000, 452 never made
it. Sounds like a ISP error message to me.
Thanks for aiming me in the right direction, think I have been looking at
the groups for too many hours today and brain-dead...

In addition to all the other replies, for a regular mailing of this size I
wouldn't use Outlook....I'd look into a third party app or service like
Lyris. It can handle malformed addresses, bounces, subscribe/unsubscribe
requests gracefully, which Outlook can't.
