Is there any way to turn off the e-mail pop-up notice? I use Windows

From WHAT? Obviously *some* e-mail program is running that pops up the
notice but you aren't telling us what it is. Windows Explorer is NOT an
e-mail program.

Assuming you use Outlook Express...
From OE, click Tools, Options, General Tab. Uncheck "Check for new messages every", Apply, OK

Pity the unitiated who never went to yale or harvard or those who are trying
to learn how a computer works and asks for a bit of help. Most of the answers
and responses for help are treated with contempt and inuendo, if you dont
want to give help and good advise then why trouble with a response at all.

At least we are prodding the OP to give more details. Your post adds
absolutely nothing in the way of help.

And if you took your car to a garage and said "it doesn't work" what would
the reply be? "Give us more information. WHAT doesn't work?"
Thats exactly what the OP said and is being asked in return.

READ the posts.

it was not intended to, maybe i should get blinkers it might help with tunnel
vision.

only if you can tell me how, but then i might bog this sight down with all
the info i would have to give you.

I'm not offended. I've received a lot of help in this group. I should
have said I'm using MSN Explorer (Hotmail) as the email progam.
Thanks again

In that case, I see no need to tell you.
As Mac says, this is not a sight.

I doubt you have any information that would interest me.

There is no popup when using a browser to use the webmail interface to
Hotmail. That requires a separate e-mail client to be running to show
the popup alert that you have new mail. Might be MSN Messenger, might
be OE, might be Outlook, might be some other e-mail monitor or program.

"Doctor, it hurts when I do this."

"Well, don't do that."

How can possibly anyone help the OP if he declines to provide a shred
of relevant information? (And that has nothing to do with going to
Harvard or Yale, or knowing anything at all about computers; it's simple
common sense.)

I must apologies for being so stupid as to call this a site when quite
clearly it is a forum, and from the calibre of the responses that have been
posted in regard to my initial posting i must ask myself what capacity is the
calibre.
have a nice day !!
