Andrea

I recently downloaded the latest updates from Microsoft.
The Service pack. Now I have lost my e-mail account. We
have Outlook express 6 and Windows XP. The e-mail account
for my husband still works fine. I believe his is the
default account. My friends say they recieve mail from me
but all that they send me is returned. The error message
is 554..user does not have an ameritech.net account. I
talked to ameritech and we ran all kinds of tests and as
far as they are concerned I do have an account. They said
it is a problem with Outlook Express. Please Help.

Usually with problems like this the best thing to do is delete your account
and then create a new one, leaving your husbands alone. Hopefully you know
how to do this.

Hi,

Despite what they may have told you, the problem is with your mail provider.
The error message has to eminate from their mail server, not your mail
account. If you are able to send mail, even if your mail settings are
screwed up, OE would not return that type of message (unless you somehow
created a mail rule to respond to all incoming messages that way - I don't
get the impression you did that). You should have one of your friends who
gets a reject notice forward it to your ISP so they can look at the source.
