My user doesn't recieve his email in Outlook 2002 (XP) unless he opens an old
message or switches views/folders in Outlook, then they come in all at once
like they were being held. Any ideas?? I have seen this many times before
but never figured it out.

It would help a lot if you actually mentioned what type of mail server
was involved. The problem sounds familiar to users of Exchange who have
networking defects that block UDP packets which are used by Exchange to
announce new mails in a user's account. The user needs to get their
network fixed so it doesn't block UDP packets or switch Outlook into
polling mode. Or they should apply the latest Office updates and
service packs.

See http://support.microsoft.com/?id=305572.

Sorry...thanks for responding

Exchange Server 2000 SVP4, client Outlook 2002 SVP3. All updates are
current. Any help is greatly appreciated. Had same problem with Outlook
2003, ran updates SVP3 and fixed the problem. Not working with this 2002
version of Outlook.

You'll have to work with the network admins to have them use sniffers to
see where the UDP packets are getting blocked. Otherwise, as mentioned
in the KB article, you'll have to change the Outlook client into polling
mode (which uses TCP).
