There are two items of software that come on most CDs that are packaged with
printers.
One is an application that helps you generate material to be printed, or
helps you manage the printer itself, by doing things like printing a test
page.
The other is a driver that is specific to your printer. A driver is,
functionally, part of the operating system, but is generally provided by
the device vendor rather than by the OS maker (e.g. Microsoft).
I'm guessing that you installed the application, but not the driver. If
that's true, then every time you turn the printer on, the operating system
(e.g. Windows) will detect a device for which there is no driver, and alert
you to install the driver.
If my guess is correct, you need to answer the dialog. Have the CD ready.
When you see the button labelled "Have CD", press it. It should lead you
through the rest.
