I had a lab transfer a collection of movie clips to a DVD for me. The clips
are from years ago and of varying quality. I chose DVD on the basis that a
digital medium is easily edited and transferred with little or no loss of
quality. It took me a while to learn a few things about the DVD formats and
a little longer still to find software to translate the whole thing into AVI
format. The AVI file I ended up with has no sound because its source is a
silent movie, but it plays alright in preview. The problem is that Movie
Maker does not allow me to import the file. I am running Win XP Pro and my
Movie Maker shows this confusing information: version 5.1 (Build
2600..Service Pack 1) followed by: Windows Movie Maker version 2.0.3312.0.
The translation software I am using is DVD2AVI ver. 1.77.3
Should I be using a different translation software or should I download a
different version of Movie Maker .
