hey all, I have a question, I have been told that dvd writers only
have a certian number burns and then they begin to fail. Does this
carry any weight? If so, how many? thanks for listening.-J

Just like human (myself at least) DVD writer and all hardwares will wear
out and need replacement, and some may last longer/shorter than expected. I
can't count mine but I believe the current one may have 2-3 thousands DVD
brunt (the older one had several thousands and I moved it to other system to
replace with faster burner).

Both burners have been going strong so I expect at least few thousands
more before I toss away for newer and better one.
