DVD will playback in WMP 9, but not in Media Centerq

I'm trying to get dvds to play in Media center edition. The dvd will
playback in Media player 9 on the machine, but as soon as I launch the media
center s/w, I get video errors. The decoder I used was from power DVD XP.
Any ideas? I always thought they pulled from the same codec library.

Also, my vid card sucks, and does not have a hardware dvd decoder.
