My DVD works in my other Dell. It also works properly
when fully installed. It does not work after shutting
down and cold reboot. It will burn yet but not reconize
read.
I have Windows XP Pro, AMD athlon XP2500A on nForce2
Motherboard GA-7N400 Pro2, 1 GB Ram.
It seems to all I have tried tied back to XP.
I have also tried other DVD R/RWs they have worked on
startup, but does not after cold reboot.

Please help. I have been trying to find problem for 7
months at least now.

The DVD also worked properly when first originally set
up computer for a while. then I added Floppy, card
readers and others. Please, Please, Please.

Hi Gordon.

I have almost the sam problem which seems to have occured after I installed
some dvd copying software.

The software I installed turned off the autorun nottification in the
registry I got my other two drives working but my Yamaha Cd Writer seems to
be buggered.

Try this

Click start, run, regedit.

Then HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services\Cdrom and then check
if the autorun finishes with a zero - if it does right click on it and click
on the modify option then change the value data to a 1.

You may also have a ControlSet003 and 004 (well I have anyway) anfd you'll
need to change the autorun values to 1 too.

Then come out of the registry editor and restart your machine.
