DVD video skipping

About 1 month ago, any DVD movie played on a windows media center OS laptop
play normal for about 3-4 mins, then starts skipping frames.

Apart from cleaning issues and software removal/reinstallation, any ideas?

What are the specifications for your system? CPU? Video card? RAM? What
codec are you using for DVDs?

Are wee talking about "original" store bought DVDs or DVD R copies?
