I just installed a Lite-On DVD writer on my XP system.
Cursory check indicates that all is working fine.

The drive came with three software CD's:
PowerDVD XP 4.0
DVD XCopy Xpress
Sonic MyDVD

I already have Nero 5.5.10.50, which has been working just fine with my
CDRW.

What does the above software do? Do I need any of it?

Thanks,

Myron

Greetings

If you goto the companies website you can get exact descriptions of what all
of the software does.
In Short
PowerDVD - Plays DVD's
DVD X Copy - Copy 1 DVD too another
MyDVD - Editior for content to be burned to DVD

Do a google search for each Web site and you'll see what
each does. One is probably a packet writer.

I have a Liteon DVD-ROM drive-PowerDVD is a DVD player (not sure if it works
for the WMP DVD Playback)

You must have a third party DVD Decoder install like PowerDVD in order to
use WMP to play DVD's.

PowerDVD is for playing DVD movies on the machine

XCopy Xpress is for copying DVDs - Nero would do this anyway

Sonic MyDVD is for making your own DVD movie disks, from say a connected
camera or camcorder
