My DVD player is not functioning. I recently had a hard drive crash on my Sony VIAO and now my DVD player sill not work. This poses an obvious problem in that I cannot run the driver recovery disc in order to fix the problem. The driver in my system is corrupted according to the device manager and I am now stuck. Help please!

Since the Sony VIAO computer is protected and locked you will have to contact the dealer from where you purchased the computer. It wouldnt be safe to try something foolish on ur part and risk the warranty cover on ur computer

How about going to Sony's web site and download the
driver you need and replace the corrupted one with it?
Or XP most likely has a default driver for it uninstall
the current driver and then update it and let windows
find one for you.
Option #3
Uninstall the drive via device manager then reinstall via
add new hardware. ???
