DVD-ROM can't read DVDs

I recently installed winXP pro and my DVD-ROM wont read any DVDs. It has no
problem with CDs though. My DVD drive is a Hitachi 7500.
Does anyone have any clue as to why this might be happening?

Did you check all your "autoplay" options?

proposed solution, if and only if, the problem you are
experiencing is exactly the problem they describe in
their article. Good luck.
 
Thank you but the problem is that the drive won't read any type of DVD not
only DVD-RWs
I have even looked for firmware updates but no luck there either.
