DVD plays - No Audio

Just bought a new Dell and thus am now running XP when I
was formerly on '98

The DVD runs perfectly yet there isn't any audio, all
volumes are up and I even plugged in my old speakers once
I realized the other's weren't working.

This is my first tower computer in quite a long time as
I've been on laptops and ports for years.

Am I missing something on the tower itself, or do I need
to download a script from online?
