DVD Playback Problem

Does Windows 98SE recognise DVD Writers?
Having problems playing DVD's the drive seems to be recognised in th
device manager and I have put game discs in which are recognised
Do I need to flash the drive or is it windows related.The DVD disc
seem to just spin in the drive. :

You require a decoder/software media player for DVD's.
Type "PowerDVD" into google search.
Download the freeware version.

You might want to post to a more appropriate newsgroup for windows 98.

No version of windows recognizes a DVD writer for that purpose (writing).
XP can make use of it as a UDF cd writer or as a cdrom only. 98SE will see a
DVD writer as a cdrom only.

Flashing a DVD writer's firmware may allow third party DVD writing or other
DVD applications make use of the DVD writer for that purpose, or as a DVD
reader, or as a DVD with media containing coded files for a movie.
