I'm new to DVD Formats and looking to buy a DVD writer, but not sure what to
look for.
I know my CD formats where CDR is recordable and CDRW rewriteable but stuck
on DVD-R and DVD+R. I've read up on a few sites that the DVD+R are a older
format than DVD-R so my question is which drive would be the best to get

HP DVD 300i

or

ASUS DRW-0402P

or should I get the writer that does both DVD-R and DVD+R

Thanks
Clayton

Personally I would look for a writer that does both. They probably cost a
bit more but I think it would be worth it in the long run.

Thanks Kevin, looks like a good writer, I will be getting this one for sure.
cheers

I read somewhere that the Pioneer A06 was just a tweaked version of the
A05. Better go for the Sony 510A which is more advanced.

Sony's Internal DVD±RW Drive DRU500AX (# 1601SD)
Sony takes the risk out of buying a DVD recorder by
bringing all the popular formats into a single drive. The
amazing new DRU-510A burns DVD-R/-RW, DVD+RW/+R, and even
CD-R/CD-RW discs
a few months back it was the only one that did.
it cost about 300 dollars so I am waiting until they come
down or others produce one that do them all.
you can go to sony site and get info on it.

I have the Pioneer AO4 and have been completely happy with it. Very stable
and came with a great software bundle.
If I were looking today? I would definitely check out Sony's multi-format
writer. Why? Diversity of format translates to greater compatibility. For
instance, I can't burn AO4 DVDs that will play in a friends' player because
her player only supports DVD+.

Hi:

I'm waiting on the availability in my area of this one. It does
everything!
