DVD drives not accessible

Have 2 DVD drives installed -- one a LightScribe enabled device, the other a
DVD-R. Have not been able to access either device. Problem occurred once
before and uninstalling and reinstalling the devices corrected the problem.
Did not work this time. Device Manger sees the devices and says they are
working properly. Checked H/W (on IDE controller chain) and all appears OK.
Any ideas?
