I was trying to burn a CD, I placed a new, blank disk in the D drive, and copied the files to the drive. However, an "insert disk" notice pops up despite having a dsikette in the drive. I have made sure that the drive has been closed, the CD faces up and I waited for the click. Does it really take long for the computer to read the CD in the drive? Please help me out. Thanks!

Yes. It can take quite a while for XP to realise something's there. It also
needs to be told it's there, often times.
