I currently have a typical CD-ROM drive and a DVD-R/RW
drive installed in my computer. The DVD drive is a
Pioneer DVR-A03 drive. I am running Windows XP. I had
expected that Windows XP would recognize the DVD drive
and provide generic drivers for it. However, it
continues to treat the DVD drive as if it were a plain CD-
ROM drive. When I examine the driver files for the CD-
ROM and the DVD drive, they are identical.

Has anyone seen this problem before? Or, is there anyone
who is successfully running a Pioneer DVD drive on
Windows XP and can tell me which Windows driver files
your system is using? I'd appreciate any help you can
provide. Thanks.

You have to install software to be able to use the DVD drive. Windows does
not natively have software to play or record DVD's. You should have gotten
software with the drive.

.
I have Nero installed; however, even Nero does not seem to
recognize the drive as a DVD drive. Any thoughts anyone?
