Hi
I just bought my first DVD player and it did not come with a DVD decoder.
Can anyone please tell me where I can download a free decoder for (Win XP
Home) Windows media player?
Thanks
Ken'

DVD Drives usually come with PowerDVD XP or WinDVD - these software packages
have built in software DVD decoders. I don't know of any freebies on the web
to decode DVD, but there probably is.

1. Open XP's "Help and Support"
2. Type DVD in the search box, hit enter.
3. Click on "DVD Troubleshooter".
4. You'll need to purchase a new DVD decoder.

Go here:

It's an FTP site and large directory so you'll have to wade through
for a bit. But you'll eventually find a set of free codecs and an
installer. They work great with Windows Media Player.

Also - most DVD players for computer use come with bundled software
like WinDVD or PowerDVD. How about yours?
