DVD/CD

I have been given some Hi-Space DVR+R discs which do not seem to work with
either my pc or laptop. Any ideas how to get them working or do they need to
be "dumped"?

You would need to be much more specific about what you mean by 'do not seem
to work'.

Some good examples of specifics you did not give...

- Make/model of the DVD burner(s) in your desktop/laptop.
- What happens when you try to utilize the blank DVD+R disks in either
system to make new DVDs.
- What program you are utilizing to make DVDs.
 
PC operates a Sony CDRWDVD CRX310EE and I use various programmes, such as
Nera, Windows Media and ACDC. The error message reads "unable to burn -
format not recognised" or I get the please insert a disc. I am not the
brightest on a pc by any means but would like to use these disc to record and
rerecord.

Well - there's your problem.

You have a CD burner, not a DVD burner/combo.
Sure - it will READ written CD or DVDs - but it will not *write* to DVDs.
For that you need a DVD burner.

"Sony CDRWDVD CRX310EE"

It would be called a DVD+/-RW or something like that if it could burn DVDs.
