DVD gurus, is it worth the additional $30 to get a DVD burner with
+R-R+RW-RW capability¡H

yes. Haven't noticed that dual format burners are costing any more
than single format.
In fact the Liteon dual drives I use generally cost less than HP's
crappy + only drives.
I would recommend going a biit more and getting a dual layer burner if
you do any serious work.
