dvd burner only burns cd's???

I have recently purchased a lite-on 411s dvd +/- r/rw
drive. I am able to burn cd-r's no prob, but for some
reason it appears that xp pro doesn't recognize it as a
dvd player/burner? i can view a dvd in the drive but
however i cant use the "dvd-rom" only functions of the
dvd itself. i cant figure out how to burn dvd's either.
i have tried using a couple different programs to burn
but none work. i cant even use windows to burn, it won't
recognize any dvd media. i've tried some memorex + r
media & some fuji - r media...every time every dvd disc
comes up as saying no disc in drive or disc is full???

Most DVD burners come bundled with burning software. You cannot burn a DVD
using the XP burning feature.

It sounds like you may need a firmware upgrade for the drive. Contact
Lite-On support. They are usually very reliable.
