What software should I get to back things up to a DVD+R? Nero 7 has bad
reviews on amazon.com

I'd stay away from Nero 7 Ultra 7.7.51. I was trying to get it to work
with a Vista machine and had numerous issues that ended with the 100%
solution of "Uninstall and Find Something Else".

If by backup you mean System/Personal data and not general burning,
I'd probably look at Acronis True Image Home Version 10.

True Image is good.

Or if all you are after is just periodically making a drive image onto DVR's
and don't need dynamically "live" backups, a cheap old copy of Ghost 2003
will do. It can be had for $10 or less.

Stay away from Ghost 2004 and later though. Its all junk. Everything by
Symantec turned to junk after 2002/3.

Ghost 2003 includes a DOS version, which can booted from either a floppy or
CD/DVD. After you make the bootable floppy/DVD, you don't even need the
Windows portion of Ghost anymore. It can be uninstalled and forgotten.

Drivers for CD/DVD, SCSI, USB, network, etc can be used right off it. Your
backup image DVD's will be bootable as well.

I haven't read any reviews on Nero 7 but I have been using it for quite some
time and still think it's a great product. I'll admit that it's suffered a
bit of bloat but it works well and hasn't caused me any problems.
