During Slide Show - Using drawing tools

While presenting a slide show I want to draw on the slide to emphasize a point. I know how to use the drawing tools, but is there a way, using the pen, to draw a straight line? I think in older versions of PP, you could hold down the CTRL key and draw to get a straight line. This is not the case in PP 2003, which I am using now. The lines I draw are very crooked. Any help would be appreciated.

Holding down shift works here...

What's your secret? In PowerPoint 2003 Slide Show mode the pen, for me, is
totally freehand and the Shift key does nothing. In PowerPoint 2000 and 2002
the Shift key does indeed keep the line straight, but only at 90 degree
increments.
