Duplicate name

I keep gettinga windows error at startup that says a
duplicate name exists on the network. Where and how to I
correct this from coming up? The error keeps causing my
cable modem connection to shut down. Thanks in advance
for any help

How many computers are on your network? If you have more than one, then
you've got at least two of them with the same name and you need to
change one. In XP, change the computer name from the System applet in
Control Panel.

If you only have one computer, then call your cable ISP. Something
similar happened to a client of mine and it turned out that a hacker
was using the client's assigned IP address (problem was on the ISP's
end).
