i have a little home network at home with two XP, 1 mac and a linux
redhat as server (web and file server).

my working machine, a XP laptop toshiba causes some troubles. sometimes
i can't log on to the server, i get the error message that another
computer with the same is allready logged on.

i changed my computer name many times as this is suggested in the error
message. however, i suspect that another connection couses this. i had
my laptop once at work and did set up another network. i can't delet
it, just disable it, but is still get the same error message.

the funny thing is that sometimes it works, i can log on to the server,
and sometimes not.

is there a way that i can log on to the server, that a window comes up
asking me for my login details. that would be perfect. at the moment my
xp log in automatically. from my mac, i always have to log in with user
and password, can i set up my xp to do the same, maybe this would be a
work arround.

many thanks - dimitri
