Please help. I am getting a 'Duplicate Name on Network'
error when starting a session. The machine is trying to
connect to a network server. I can not change the
computer name or domain name in the standard way. I am
unable to link to the server share files. I have tried
system restore to no avail. Is there some other way of
resolving this duplication error? Thanks

Thanks for getting back to me, Richard. No this PC has
only one adapter. I have since found out that the person
who works at this station had; A) a failed registration
by reusing an already taken IP ; B). erroneously
registered to a workgroup and not to the correct company
domain.

Does this PC have more than one network adapter connected to the network?

I assume you've corrected these two problems - has that fixed the basic
fault?

Richard, no I still have the problem. I can't seem to
change the computername and/or domain in the conventional
way. The duplicate name still exists.

Maybe it's time to define some terms - what does "in the conventional way"
mean? What process exactly are you using?
