Look under Tools, Accounts, and make sure you don't have a duplicate
mail account.

I, too, am having difficulties with Windows Mail, except every time I SEND
an email, I get what looks like 2 duplicate messages sent, but after sending
an email to myself (and seeing 2 emails registered as having been sent), I
receive only 1 email. So, even though it appears like 2 emails are being
sent, only 1 is actually going out. Still, this is very annoying.

BTW, I followed Gary VanderMolen's advice, but I do not show duplicate
accounts.

Hope this gets fixed!

Rebecca

Rebecca, do both of the duplicate emails wind up in the Sent Items folder?
If not, where exactly are you seeing those duplicates?

Which antivirus are you running? Some of them cause problems with
Windows Mail over time. Make sure your antivirus is not configured
to scan emails.

i'm not sure if i feel any better to land here--------> when i'm simply
attempting to get to my own yahoo mail account--------> and to find that
others are experiencing connection problems as infuriatingly frustrating as
my own................what i want is to resolve the problem. someone needs
to step up to the plate.........the brand new Dell PC is fresh out of the
box, still under the warranty, and TWC has made 3 home visits: swapped the
modem, re-ran part of the cable wire, the older section. i wanted to
contact yahoo. i never expected to be unable to access my own yahoo mail
account.

well thanks.........i am hoping for some kind of
response.............kb/krannie

Yes, they are both in the Sent Items folder. I have McAfee and have had it
for years and never had any problems. Under "Local Folder" then "Inbox"
there is McAfee Anti-Spam. Why would it cause problems with messages being
sent? If it was at fault, wouldn't it be more likely to create havoc with
incoming mail?

Okay, I did as suggested below and it worked! I still get one email saved
in the Sent Items folder but not two. Great! Thank you.

I'm using the Vista based Windows Mail program and every time I receive an
e-mail in my inbox it comes in duplicate. It's really annoying. Anyone know
how to stop this and just receive each individual message.
Thanks.

I still think this is a side effect of McAfee interfering with your
email, but since you've found a suitable workaround, all is
well that ends well.
