I am receiving duplicate messages. I do not have double accounts. I think I
clicked a box somewhere to save emails and since then I have been receiving
two of everything. I cannot recall where or how I did it but I read somewhere
in the forum that some emails were not being saved and a response to remedy
this, which I followed. Cannot now find that thread.

okay most people have a box on the left side of there srceen that has a list
INBOX,DRAFT,SENT, THASH. click on one of the boxes. maybe your DRAFT one
than there should be an opition click on it. you should find how to fix your
problem.

have checked this .If I right click any of these boxes I do not have an
'option'. I have 'open' ''find' 'new folder' delete' 'rename' 'properties' -
for which there is only a 'general' tab. Doesn't get me anywhere - sorry.

It is prudent to discount most advice you get here from other than the
regular responders. Sort messages by originator name, and you can
tell who that is.

You have already eliminated the most common reason for your issue,
a duplicate account. Another possibility is that your account has become
corrupted, typically by a non-compatible antivirus program.
Try this: delete that account, restart Windows Mail, then recreate that account.

Thank you, but I am sure the problem occurred when I ticked a box that said
'save message to file' or very similar. I have gone back thru all the drop
downs and menus and cannot find this box to 'de-click' it. AM I dreaming I
did this, don't think so ..so where can I find this box to remove the action ?

It isn't clear to me what you are trying to do.
Saving a message to a file is a one-shot operation, and it does not
in any way affect the subsequent operation of your Windows Mail.

I'm not sure if this would result in him receiving duplicate messages or not
(?) but I wonder if perhaps Alexis meant that he had gone into Tools >
Accounts > properties then opened the advanced tab and under Delivery, he had
checked the option to leave a copy of messges on server?

That shouldn't make any difference as far as the problem Alexis
is seeing. The email program keeps track of which messages
were previously downloaded successfully, so it won't download
the same messages over again.
